How to Measure for Perfect Fit Shutter Blinds

Measuring for perfect fit shutter blinds is completely different from the method used for standard blinds. In this guide we’ll cover how to measure for our Echo shutters by taking a glass size measurement.

Measuring Glass Size for Perfect Fit Shutter Blinds

Like any Perfect Fit Blinds, our perfect fit shutters are designed to clip under the beading on your uPVC windows and doors which means to ensure they fit snugly within the frame, you’ll need to measure the visible glass size rather than the recess. Follow the steps below to ensure this is done correctly.

1. For the width, measure in 3 places across the glass making sure to measure from the inside edge of the rubber beading on the left, to the inside edge of the beading on the right. Take a note of the shortest measurement.

2. For the drop, measure in 3 places down the glass making sure to measure from the inside edge of the rubber beading at the top of the window, to the inside edge of the beading at the bottom. Again, take a note of the shortest measurement.

3. Using your shortest measurements for the width and drop ensure the blind will fit snugly within the uPVC frame.

4. You’ll need to then check the depth of the window frame. You can use a credit card to help you.

5. Place the card over the corner of the frame and use the metal tape measure to get your measurements.

6. Next you should check for any obstructions.

7. Measure the distance between the edge of the glass to any surrounding obstructions, such as the handles.

8. If this measures more than 25mm, you’ll need a handle rebate and should notify us to ensure your blind is manufactured correctly. You can follow the steps below on how to measure for a rebate handle connector if required.

Things to Note:

You can also use a credit card to check that our brackets are compatible by gently inserting the card between your beading and the glass. You must be able to push the card in at least 1cm.

Measure the rubber beading, if it extends into the glass by more than 6mm, you should phone us for assistance.

Our ECHO Perfect Fit Shutters are only suitable for ball nose and chamfered beadings and are not compatible with square beads.

Once we have your glass size we will make all adjustments to ensure a perfect fit. Each panel will arrive 46mm large in width and drop than the sizes entered. This is to accommodate for the overlap when fitting your panels to your window frame and is standard practice in the manufacturing of Perfect Fit Shutter Blinds.

How to Measure for a Handle Rebate Connector

If you require a handle rebate connector, you can use the following steps below to measure for this. Once you’ve measured, simply enter the rebate location on the product page when ordering. Currently the location should be between 110mm – 390mm.

1. First, you will need to advise us where the handle is located on your window: Top, Bottom, Left or Right.

2. Next, you will need to measure from the edge of the beading to the centre of your handle. This allows us to determine the exact location of the connector. How you measure, depends on the location of your handle.

3. If the handle is located on the right or the left side of your window, you will need to measure from the beading at the top of the window to the centre of your handles turning spindle.

4. If the handle is located on the top or bottom of your window, you will need to measure from the beading on the left side of the window to the centre of your handles turning spindle.

Please Note: The centre measurement may not always be located where the key hole is.
