How to Measure for Wooden Blinds
How to measure for wooden blinds will change depending on where you’ll be fitting them: inside or outside of your window recess. Both Real Wood and Faux Wood Blinds use the same measuring method as our Aluminium Venetian Blinds. Follow the steps below to ensure your blinds fit perfectly!
Measuring the Recess for Wooden Blinds
If you want to fit your wooden blinds inside your window recess, you’ll need to take a width and drop measurement.
1. For the width, measure wall to wall three times across the window. From left to right, measure across the top, middle, and bottom of the blind & take a note the shortest measurement.
2. For the drop, take three measurements down the length of the window recess. From top to bottom, measure the drop at the left, centre, and the right & take a note the shortest measurement again.
3. Using the shortest measurements ensures that your blind will fit snugly even if your window measures slightly larger in certain areas.
4. When ordering your blinds, simply select recess fit & we’ll take care of any adjustments/deductions to ensure your blinds fit perfectly within your window recess.
Things to Note for Recess Measuring
For recess measuring, DO NOT make any deductions yourself, we will make all required adjustments to ensure your blind fits perfectly.
Measuring for Exact Fit Wooden Blinds
If you want to mount your wooden blinds outside the window recess, you’ll need to take a width and drop measurement.
1. Measure the height from the top to the bottom of the window.
2. Measure the width of the window from left to right.
3. When fitting a wooden blind outside the window, we recommend that you add 10cm onto both the width and height to ensure that you have enough coverage, but you can add more if you prefer.
4. Now that you have calculated your width and drop measurements, enter them and select “exact” on your chosen product for an instant quote.
How to Measure for Wooden Blinds Using an Existing Blind
If you have an existing wooden blind and are looking for a replacement, you can simply measure its width and drop (inclusive of the headrail) and we’ll make one to the same size.
1. For the width, measure across the complete headrail from bracket to bracket.
2. For the drop, measure from the top of the existing headrail down to where the blind ends making sure the blind is fully extended.
3. Once you have the complete measurement, enter this on your chosen product and select exact fitting. You should still select ‘exact’ even if you’re blind will go within the recess of your window to ensure we make no deductions.
4. Your blind will arrive the exact same size as the one within your window currently!
