How to Measure for Roman Blinds
In this guide we’ll cover how to measure for roman blinds to ensure your blinds fit perfectly, whether you’re fitting them inside or outside of your window recess. Follow the steps below for your chosen fitting.
Measuring the Recess for Roman Blinds
If you want to fit your Roman blind inside your window recess, you’ll need to take a width and drop measurement.
1. For the width, measure wall to wall across the window. We recommend taking this measurement 3 times – across the top, middle, and bottom of the window & noting the shortest measurement.
2. For the drop, again take three measurements down the length of the window recess. From top to bottom, measure the drop at the left, centre, and the right & take a note the shortest measurement.
3. Using the shortest measurements ensures that your blind will fit snugly even if your window measures slightly larger in certain areas.
4. When ordering your blinds, simply select recess fit & we’ll take care of any adjustments/deductions to ensure your blinds fit perfectly within your window recess.
Things to Note for Recess Measuring:
For recess measuring, DO NOT make any deductions yourself, we will make all required adjustments to ensure your roman blind fits perfectly.
Measuring for Exact Fit Roman Blinds
If you want to mount your Roman blinds outside, above the window recess, you’ll need to take a width and drop measurement.
1. Measure the height from the top to the bottom of the window.
2. Measure the width of the window from left to right.
3. When fitting a Roman blind outside the window, we recommend that you add 10cm onto both the width and height to ensure that you have enough coverage, but you can add more if you prefer.
4. If you have an existing Roman blind in your window, you can simply measure its width and drop (inclusive of the headrail) and we’ll make one to the same size.
5. Now that you have calculated your width and drop measurements, enter them and select “exact” on your chosen product for an instant quote.
How to Measure for Roman Blinds Using an Existing Blind
If you have an existing Roman blind and are looking for a replacement, you can simply measure the existing blind’s width and drop (inclusive of the headrail and mechanisms) and we’ll make one to the same size.
1. For the width, measure across the blind from bracket to bracket.
2. For the drop, measure from the top of the existing headrail down to where the fabric of the blind ends, ensuring the blind is fully extended.
3. Once you have the complete measurement, enter this on your chosen roman blind and select exact fitting. You should still select ‘exact’ even if you’re blind will go within the recess of your window to ensure we make no deductions.
4. Your blind will arrive the exact same size as the one within your window currently!
