Decide Where Your Blind Will Hang

First things first, you’ll have to identify if your window has a recess and whether you want to fit your blinds within this or onto the fascia.

Below you’ll find a brief overview of how to measure for recess and exact fitting blinds, however please refer to the measuring guide for your specific blind type to ensure accurate measuring. You’ll find a list of all product measuring guides at the bottom of this page.

Recess Measuring

If you’re planning on hanging your blinds within the window recess, this is known as a recess fit and you should select this option when ordering your blinds. For this type of installation, you should measure wall to wall taking into account any obstructions such as handles, tiles, or fixtures that may prevent the blind being fully extended.

Measure wall to wall in three places for both the width and height.

First, measure the width from left to right along the top, in the middle, and along the bottom of the window.

Take your drop measurement by measuring from top to bottom on the left, in the middle, and on the right of the window.

Note the shortest measurements to ensure your blind fits properly within the recess space.

If you’re window recess is partially tiled, this can require further alterations, for help with this, call our customer support team on 0333 321 4050.

Exact Measuring

If you want to hang your blinds outside the window recess, onto the fascia, this is known as an exact fit and again, can be chosen during the ordering process. Exact fitting requires you to measure the complete area you would like the blind to cover. Your blinds will arrive exactly at this size inclusive of all headrails/brackets as we won’t make any amendments or deductions.

Measure in three places across the area you want the blind to cover to get your width and height.

For the width measurement, we recommend measuring your recess space and adding an additional few cm to ensure complete coverage (refer to specific measuring guides below for details).

Take your drop measurement from the top of the fascia, where you plan on installing the headrail and go down as far as you want the blind to hang when fully extended.

This process will ensure the blind completely covers the entire fascia.

If you already have an existing blind, you can simply measure the width (bracket to bracket) and drop (fully extended) and select exact fitting when ordering & we’ll make one to the same size!

Please Note: If you have particularly tall windows and a high installation point, we will require more information to process your order. Please contact our Support Team on 0333 321 4050 for assistance.
