All our fire retardant blinds meet the type B performance requirement of BS 5867-2: 2008 when tested in accordance with BS EN ISO 15025: 2002 Procedure A (Surface Ignition) before and after washing (12 cycles at 40°c).

How are the Blinds Fire Tested?

A small flame is applied to the surface area of the fabric, and it is then observed to ensure the fire doesn’t reach any edge of the blind or cause any fabric debris to fall. This is done before and after the fabric has been washed.

Where Should I Use Fire Retardant Blinds?

Our blinds are suitable in both domestic and commercial settings. In the home we recommend fire retardant blinds for kitchens, nurseries, and home offices, although they can be used throughout.

Our range of fire retardant blinds are compliant with BS 5867-2: 2008 and therefore can be used in offices, nurseries, colleges, schools, universities and museums as well as hospitals, hotels, and other public buildings.

Do Blinds have to be Fire Retardant in Commercial Buildings?

In commercial buildings it’s important to create a safe working environment by mitigating the risk of fire. This means you should be abiding by and using products certified by BS 5867 and it is your responsibility to ensure they are suitable for your commercial space.

Are Blackout Blinds Flame Retardant?
